Ross Elliot, CFP
Investment Advisor/Registered Investment Advisor, CRD 165631
I was born Robert Ross Elliot in Montana. My prefered name is "Ross". Early in my career I was a teacher and coach at Buffalo High School, Buffalo, Wyoming for six years. Following that I became a State Farm agent in Buffalo where my wife, Claudia, and I raised four great kids. I retired from State Farm in 2011 (after 35 years) to put my "Certified Financial Planner" (CFP) attained in 2003 to practice. During my State Farm career I sold insurance and financial service products. I am also a "Chartered Financial Consultant" (ChFC) and a "Chartered Life Underwriter" (CLU). After retiring from State Farm I formed a company named Finlayson Financial Planning, Inc. after my Grandad's middle name. His first name was Archibald; I did not think that would "fly".
I am the President and practicing CFP of my firm, Finlayson Financial Planning which is registered with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) under the CRD #165631. It my objective to work with each and every client as a "fiduciary" always acting in their best interest in the areas of: investing/retirement/insurance/taxation and estate planning. I am a "fee only" planner. As a "fee only" advisor I believe in passive management-not active or trading. Most of the investments recommended are ETF's or Indexes with emphasis on low expenses, low taxes and broad diversification. Special attention is given to "risk tolerance" and "time horizon" as it may apply to each and every investment for each client.
